It’s great to meet you, J.Lock, tell our UK readers a bit about yourself.

Good to meet you too! I’ve never been to the UK but I hope to visit one day. I’m from Forest, Mississippi. I’m an artist and songwriter. Music is a way for me to express my thoughts and feelings in a melodic artful way.

Before you decided to focus on your music career, what jobs have you had in the past?

I worked in the fast food industry at McDonald’s and Wendy’s. I always knew it was temporary and just a way to fund my music career. I even worked at FedEx for a little bit.

Was there a moment growing up when you knew you had to make a change for yourself?

As soon as my mom went overseas to be in the military because of how poor we were, that was a wake up call for me. I knew she had to in order for us to have a better life. It was then that I knew I had to make a change, not just for myself, but for my family.

Have you always wanted to be an artist? What are your thoughts on manifestation?

I always wanted to be the best at whatever I did and the best version of myself. I think I was around 14 when I knew I wanted to be a musical artist and the best at it. I feel like manifestation is most definitely real, especially when you speak certain things into existence.

What can we expect from your upcoming single Selfish ft RL? Tell us about that collaboration.

You can expect real authentic music. A rap and R&B essence from the track followed by melodies and dope lyrics. It’s a really nice hit.

Tell us about your creative process, when is your favorite time to record in the studio? Is there anything unique that you like to do while you’re there?

My most creative process is when I’m by myself. I write better lyrics, better hooks, just overall better songs when I’m alone. When it comes to recording music at the studio, I don’t mind constructive criticism. I believe music is a collaborative sport, so it’s good to have other ears. It’s cool to have someone else in the studio like my producer to get his feedback.

Who are some of your favorite artists right now? Any dream collaborations?

My favorite artists are J.Cole, Drake, and Kendrick. I would like to collaborate with artists like Latto, Queen Naija, Drake, J. Cole, Moneybag Yo, Lil Baby and the list continues.

What is your vision for yourself in the next five years?

Just constant growth and progress. Hopefully many plaques.

Do you think fame changes people? If so, how?

I think life itself changes people. I feel like fame changes the people around you more than yourself.

It was nice to speak with you, J.Lock! We’re excited for everyone to hear this one. Drop your social media links below for our readers.
