The black community has long been one that strives to help each other and generate awareness of the good we all have to offer.

Isha is a South West-based entrepreneur whos on a mission to help propel a new generation of entrepreneurs in the right direction by nurturing their dreams and expanding their horizons. Isha and a team of aspirational individuals, who have their businesses, have come together to form LIFE2020. A collective dedicated to seeing positive change in entrepreneurship for people from diverse communities. Isha joined Mogul Magazine to talk about the importance of helping independent businesses, the path that led her to being an entrepreneur and the lessons she learned in life. Enjoy!

Can you tell us about your organisation LIFE2020?

Life2020 is a business set up for the people by the people and solely run by a group of entrepreneurs who seek to motivate and support aspiring business owners, particularly young individuals. We aim to work together as a collective to encourage, support and guide you through your journey into entrepreneurship.

Why do you think it’s important to promote independent businesses?

It’s important to help promote independent businesses as it comes with many different challenges. Working together and supporting each other on the journey of independence makes the journey easier.

Was there a defining moment when you knew you wanted to be an entrepreneur?

Becoming a parent was when I knew I wanted to be an entrepreneur. I was living in Trinidad, thinking about what I could learn to do anywhere in the world. 

Can you tell us how you got started as an entrepreneur?

My first step into becoming an entrepreneur was learning the trade of Beauty and massage therapy which is my first passion. 

What is your vision for the future of your brand?

The future vision is to collaborate with other organisations to provide a broader platform to showcase, support, and acknowledge today’s young entrepreneurs.

What’s your favourite aspect of being an entrepreneur?

My favourite aspect of being an entrepreneur is being independent.

Can you describe yourself in three words?

Happy, Grateful, and Empowering are the three words I would use to describe myself.

How do you balance managing your work life with your personal time?

To balance my work life, I ensure I take time off, especially from social media, plenty of relaxing “me time”. I regularly meditate and practice being still.

What do you enjoy most about entrepreneurship? What do you find the hardest about it?

I love the practical and social side of being an entrepreneur. I find it challenging to do paperwork and writing.

What books do you recommend for every entrepreneur to read?

I must be honest and say I’m not much of a reader, but one book I would recommend reading is The Power of Love by JaJa Soze. This book is motivational book and very inspiring.

Looking back, what is the most important lesson you learned about life?

The most important lesson I’ve learned in life is to be an adaptable human being. 

Where do you aim to be in 3 years?

I would love to be able to travel the world with the skills I have gained over the years and share them with others.
