Trials & Tribulations!

How 6ix9ine went from a rainbow-haired rapper in Bushwick, Brooklyn, to a trolling chart-topper, ordering hits on people for a criminal enterprise, all in just over a year.

This week in federal court, a polarizing musician was an eager witness, describing how his career was tied to his association with the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.

This week, in a federal courtroom in Manhattan, 6ix9ine, who is undoubtedly one of the most controversial rappers in the industry proved to be an eager witness for the prosecution team.

With more than two days of testimony and an afternoon of cross-examination, Daniel Hernandez famously known as 6ix9ine / Tekashi69, admitted to his role in a New York street gang, the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods. Hernandez gave a detailed account of what he called “violent crimes, robberies, assaults, drugs, and crimes of that nature.”

In his role as a government witness in the racketeering trial of two former associates — one part of a racketeering and firearms case that prosecutors brought against the rapper last November. 6ix9ine also revealed the ruthless undertones of the music and social media industries, including gang hierarchies in hip-hop, and the way street credibility can turn into cultural capital.

Many in the Hip-Hop industry has made it very clear that since Hernandez became a government informant and testified against his former management and gang members, they will not be working with him and they are disgusted with him. 6IX9ine is snitching so much that even the judge had to tell him to shut up more or less!

6ix9ine was one of the biggest internet trolls and portrayed himself to be a gangster. He was even given the utterly stupid ‘go-ahead by his former gang members, to use the word n@gga in all of his rap songs. Now that is a whole other story but one not for today.

Lessons Learned?

So what is the lesson here? I believe the lesson is not to go chasing waterfalls…or in this era, we could say “don’t go chasing clout”.

Although 6ix9ine made good music, he was the ultimate clout chaser who proved to be a snakey individual. He was playing a very dangerous game that could have cost him his life and freedom. It’s been proven that he paid members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods to shoot, rob and attack people.

He has been very disrespectful, and I honestly feel he has never respected Hip-Hop as a culture. Yes, we can say he was young, etc. but Hernandez has slipped through the nets of injustice one too many times. Now don’t get me wrong, I do not feel bad for his manager Shotty either, Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods are was ran grown men who abused their power. It was a situation where Treway used 6ix9ine for money and 6ix9ine used Treway for protection and clout.

It is being reported that 6ix9ine will probably be out of jail as early as January 2020, and he has refused government protection. 6ix9ine has helped the government dismantle one of the biggest gangs in New York; many people have gone to jail ad many more are probably expecting an unwelcomed visit from New York authorities.

It seems 6ix9ine is planning to continue making music. I am not sure how that will go down with the rap community, but I predict he will not be welcomed with open arms.

Final thoughts…Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time….better yet just don’t do the crime at all.
