GRM DAILY / KA – RATED AWARDS 2018

Some of the biggest stars in urban music attended the 4th Annual Rated Awards ceremony, held at the Evetim Apollo, Hammersmith. The show was hosted by Mo The Comedian and Julie Adenuga whom both did an incredible job.

The show kicked off with the Personality Of The Year award being presented, with the winner being rising star Big Shaq AKA Michael Dapaah. When receiving his award he said ‘It’s mad, I just want to thank God for this. You know a couple of years ago we weren’t here and now we’re here – don’t let anyone stop you from what you want to do. ‘Big up to the females in this category and all the other entertainers; big up yourself, this one’s for you.’
Steel Banglez took home The Producer Of The Year award for the second year running and while speaking on the yellow carpet before the ceremony he said there should be more awards up for the people working behind the scenes.
“I think we are the unsung heroes in terms of what we do for the artists,”
“I think people like the Mobos and the Brits should have producer categories and also songwriter awards as well. Because that’s a big part of tracks coming together”.
D Double E won The GRM Legacy Award (Supported by BBC Radio1 Xtra) for his dedication and service to the industry.
During the ceremony, the audience was thoroughly entertained with energetic performances by Ghetts, D Double E, Giggs, Not£s and more. Once again it was another successful night for the UK’s creative urban entertainment industry. Congrats to all the winners, nominees and the GRM Daily/KA team.
