Beauty From Me To You!
Here I am, my first ever Beauty Column, how scary is this! I really didn’t know how to start this, but I thought a great place would be to say that my aim is to be light-hearted, honest, and informative and to make my readers feel good! So my beautiful readers, please talk with me, laugh with me and be honest with me, as these columns are not just about me, it is about us, so let’s start this beautiful journey together and flourish from here!
In May I went to the ‘Beauty UK’ beauty trade show in the NEC Birmingham and I came across the makeup brand MUDD Beauty (founded by Alixzondra Samuda) – WOW! I think what first attracted me to their stand was the beautiful black women wearing vibrant matt lipsticks – straight away I was like, ‘I am here for this’!
Alixzondra being of Indian and Jamaican ethnicity became aware of a gap in the market of high quality makeup with natural ingredients for women with deeper skin tones. On 26th November 2017 Alixzondra launched ‘MUDD Beauty’. The unique name descends from mud being a biological substance extracted from the earth thus representing the brand’s organic and earthy approach.
I literally love my lipstick (I purchased Peaches & Cream); the pigment is amazing and it lasts for hours!
Alixzondra aspires to release a range of foundation to accommodate deeper skin tones so women of colour can have a makeup range that not only carries high quality pigments but also will look after their skin and endocrine system. Alix I am here ready and waiting!
My Daily Makeup Routine
I really got into makeup after becoming a Mother; the darkness under my eyes, frown lines becoming more prominent etc. I am sure it was a lot more noticeable to me, but you know how we are ladies, we see flaws in ourselves that others don’t!
So I thought I would share my go-to products of how I freshen myself up on a daily basis.
Skin Prep
Serums work into the skin. The Forever Living products main ingredient is Aloe Vera, which as you know is amazing for the skin and body internally & externally. I have used their products for approximately 6 years now.
Sonya Aloe Deep Moisturizing Cream
Moisturisers protect the top layer of the skin.
Nivea for Men Post Shave Balm
I use this as my makeup primer. It gives a nice tacky base for the foundation to stick to and it smells gorgeous.
Foundation – Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk.
I have been wearing this for some time now. It applies so smoothly and does not feel heavy on the skin. I just love it! I wear Shade 9.
Concealer – LA Girl Pro Conceal
Daily I wear shade ‘Cool Tan’, however, if I want more of a highlight I wear shade ‘Medium Beige’. Here is a link t their site, but you can often get authentic ones on eBay for cheaper. In this vid, I am wearing Cool Tan.
Setting Powder – Ben Nye Neutral Set Colourless Powder
I have used this on all skin tones and really does make the makeup stay in place for hours.
Eyebrows –You do not always have to use a specific eyebrow product for your eyebrows. I am currently using a dark brown eyeshadow from my Morphe Palette.
Bronze / Contour – Mac Cosmetics ‘Give Me Sun’ mineralize skinfinish natural
Highlight
To be honest, I don’t wear highlight every day, but if I do, for just every day I normally like to wear Mac cream colour base – improper copper or the bronzy shade from my Makeup Revolution ‘Golden Sugar’ palette, which I am wearing in this video.
Lippy
This changes daily lol! In the vid I am wearing Mac ‘Bronze Shimmer’. Probably one of my favs!
