To succeed in the creative industry, you will have to overcome a lot of rejection and prevail over many no’s until you receive your first – YES. This will ultimately build your strength, thick skin, and perseverance. Pop artist and songwriter Sarah Reeves appears to be on the other side and thriving, embarking on a fresh new chapter.

With this year’s releases, ‘Jealousy,’ ‘Wanna Be Here,’ and her latest single ‘Get Back Your Fight,’ Sarah Reeves launches not only a new chapter, but a new era. Her material is digging deeper into the tales of her heart, with the hope of helping others that could relate.

‘Get Back Your Fight’ is an undeniable sonic charge, with an overwhelming sense of hope and reassurance – you will be okay and on the right path. Reeves’ eye makeup illustrates the warrior mindset you instantly grasp within the track’s first chorus.

Sarah Reeves talks to Mogul about her new level-up beginning and the meaning of her new music.

How did you get into singing and writing songs?

I grew up in a musical family. My dad built me and my siblings a recording studio by our house and we played a lot of music in the church. From there I started singing in bands and writing songs. It has been a passion ever since.

What were some obstacles you had to overcome to get where you are today?

I had to overcome a lot of rejection in my journey. There have been many disappointments and hundreds of “no’s” before one “yes”. But it makes me so much more appreciative of where I am today.

What is ‘Wanna Be Here’ about?

Wanna Be Here was the first song I wrote for the album. I wrote it with my producer, Taylor Hill in LA. It is a classic, love song but with interesting, futuristic language and one of my favorite songs I’ve ever written

How would you describe this new chapter?

This new chapter is a level up from anything I’ve ever done. I always want to grow with every new season. These songs are definitely from a deep place in my heart and I hope the listener connects with it and finds their own stories in these songs.

What emotion are you hoping to inspire with your new single ‘Get Back your Fight’?

I hope to inspire hope and strength when people listen to this new song. I hope they feel seen and know that they are not alone.

Is there any significance/back story of your eye make up for the ‘Get Back Your Fight’ cover art?

I usually see art and visuals when I write each song. I wanted to use “war paint” on my face for the cover but more in a fashionable way. This cover and music video resembles the “future me” talking to the “past me”. She is a fighter and embodies strength and wisdom.

The theatrical sound of your new single would be perfect for a movie fight scene. What movie would you like to see ‘Get Back Your Fight’ be featured in?

I would be amazing to see this in any action film or even a female lead Disney movie!

What themes were important for you to cover in your next album ‘Best Days’?

The album covers many themes including love, heartbreak, the ending and beginning of chapters in life – all have come from different places in my own personal life.

If you would be able to join forces with any charity or help raise awareness about social issue, what would it be and why?

I have a strong passion for children in need. I sponsor a child in Haiti via Compassion International. I love their vision and heart for kids.
