What inspired you to start your business?
As a young single mother with two kids, I faced many obstacles and challenges. Jobs like McDonald’s, where I worked for 4 years, were not paying enough to raise my kids and provide a proper roof over their heads. Daycares was very expensive, and I could not afford them, so I had to pay different people to watch my kids because I did not have a family to depend on. I had to beg for help and work 2 or 3 jobs to provide a living for them. I knew in my heart that this was not the type of life I wanted them to live. So, Not wanting to see my two beautiful daughters go through the same life struggle of trying to make ends meet. I knew the best thing for me was to start my own business to pave a better future for them and end the generational curse.
How would you describe your brand?
I would describe my brand as daring and sassy—the perfect eyewear for anyone that not afraid to be bold and stand out in the crowd. Even if you wear glasses, my lashes for glasses will help bring out that fierce side of you. With each pair being handmade and designed by me, you would feel the passion of each one that helps articulate the beauty in your eyes.
If you can collaborate with a celebrity influencer, who would it be and why?
I would want to collaborate with Meg the Stallion. Megan Inspires women to love themselves and not be afraid to live their best life and feel good while doing it. Everyone, no matter who you are, can have a Hot Girl Summer! That is what my brand represents, for everyone to Look beyond what the world has to say about lashes and have fun in them.
How is it balancing motherhood and being an entrepreneur?
It’s a fantastic experience, and I give God the glory! My situation may be different from others because my kids believe in my brand and are actually my little branding partners. So, for instance, on Weekdays, I am home cooking dinner and helping them with homework. Then, on weekends we go to popup shops together and have family dinner or movie time. This allows me to balance motherhood and to be an entrepreneur.
How do you feel the Internet has impacted your independent business?
I feel the internet impact on independent businesses and entrepreneurs has been beneficial. If it was not for the Internet, I would not have had a platform to market and sell my products on social media to people in other states. I would still be only local. The people on social media have been very supportive by sharing each other products and website links. I think many people would agree that the Internet has helped their business grow.
What is one message you would give to aspiring entrepreneurs?
Never give up! Keep posting your video and products like in this whole world your opinion is the only one that matters. Do not worry about what anyone has to say or think. If you birth a business idea, then grow it. As long as you stay true to yourself and believe in your brand, everyone else will have no choice but to follow along. Keep going by being the conductor on your destiny train by trusting in God and the process. As long as you do that and not give up, you will get the result you are looking for.
What is the best advice you’ve been given?
Don’t worry what other people think. Personality begins where comparison leaves off.
Be unique
Be memorable
Be confident
Be proud
Live your truth and live out loud.
What can we expect from you next?
I am currently working on a short film filled with laughter and excitement, and I am also in the works of hosting a Self-Love Beauty Class for young girls.
Where do you hope to be in 5 years?
I hope to be happy and living my best life with my family. But, I hope in 5 five years, the whole world will be only wearing Eyelash4Me-2 brand lashes. I hope to be a vendor for all lash businesses and stores and possibly have my own shop to work from. That is my dream!
