Eight Self Care Tips For 2021
By V.Davis
Most of us spend our days looking after everyone. Too often, we neglect our own needs which can lead us to experience physical and mental stress. To reduce the risks of burnout, we have to make our self-care and well-being a priority.
Over the years, research has shown us the more you take time out to treat yourself and practice self-care, the more energetic, confident and creative you are. Regular relaxation, a healthy diet, and exercise can benefit us greatly and contribute to your overall success.
2020 has challenged the human race like never before, so here are eight self-care tips to help you start 2021 the right way!
1. Read a positive story or article every morning.
A variety of surveys show that the news can cause stress and anxiety, so trade your morning scroll through your social media feeds in exchange for something more positive like an uplifting book, or your most uplifting video/podcast.
2. Herbal Teas
Try trading your morning coffee for a cup of therapeutic herbal tea.
There are many benefits to drinking herbal teas. Herbal teas help detoxify and hydrate the body, and tasting a soothing herbal beverage can make your mind feel calmer.
3. Meditation Is Good For The Body & Soul.
Research shows there are many benefits of meditating regularly. Meditation alleviates anxiety, reduces stress and releases tension in the body. It also helps to relax the part of the brain responsible for the fight or flight response. Meditation can also lengthen your attention span and enhances self-awareness and can help you fight addictions.
4. Exercise Regularly.
Regular exercise can reduce your risk of a heart attack and help you to manage your weight better. Regular exercise can also lower your blood pressure, strengthen your muscles and bones, and reduce the risk of osteoporosis. You don’t have to spend 2 hours a day in the gym, creating a daily 30-minute workout that you can do at home can do wonders for your physical health. Regular physical exercise will boost your endurance. Training delivers oxygen and nutrients to your tissues and helps your cardiovascular system work more efficiently.
5. Write in a gratitude journal.
Research suggests that a daily gratitude journal can increase your long-term well-being. Taking the time each day to focus on the good things in your life will naturally become more positive. By simply writing down what you are thankful for can make you more optimistic because you are choosing to see more of the positivity in your life, resulting in you giving less power to negative emotions. Spend 5 minutes each day thinking about someone or something you genuinely appreciate and add it to your gratitude journal.
7. Be Good To Other People
Do good in your community, open doors for strangers, give your time to the less fortunate. Smile at passing strangers on the street spread love, joy, and abundance. There is much negativity in the world, so choose to be a pillar of light, love, and strength, lead by example. Acts of kindness increase the well-being of the giver and the receiver.
8. Take Time Out For You!
A considerable amount of research shows the benefits around disconnecting and taking time out for you. Taking regular breaks from social media will help reduce your anxieties, insecurities and loneliness. Enjoy the real world by unplugging from the oversaturated and materialistic social media platforms. Social media can work wonders for your business and ego, but it can make individuals feel like they are less than or not good enough. In a world where many are trying to keep up with the Kardashians switch off and learn to be content with being you. You are divine just the way you are. You don’t need validation from millions of people whom you’ve never met.
