The Brit Awards 2020: Big Winners

By C.Charles

The BRIT Awards 2020  took place at London’s O2 Arena on Tuesday 18th February, with our favourite stars such as Stormzy, Dave & Mabel all picking up awards during the night’s celebrations. The ceremony was hosted by Jack Whitehall, and this was his third consecutive year doing so.

Entertainment on the night was provided by this year’s Brit nominee such as Mabel, Lizzo, Lewis Calpaldi, Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Dave & more.

It is safe to say the performances this year set the bar very high for years to come. The night’s entertainment was vibrant, colourful, fun,and thought-provoking. Fantastic all round.

Big Winners

Lewis Capaldi was crowned king of the night at the Brit Awards 2020.

The cheeky Scot, scooped two awards – winning in the Best New Artist and Best Song categories for his international hit song Someone You Loved. Lewis couldn’t help pointing out that his hit Someone You Loved was not written about Paige from Love Island, who Lewis used to date. It is in fact about his late grandma. That is so sweet.

US superstar Billie Eilish was left speechless as she took home the Best International Female, beating newcomer Lizzo and veteran Arianna Grande.

The unique and playful Tyler The Creator won Best International Male. Tyler did not miss the opportunity to throw a little comedic shade our former Prime Minister Theresa May by dedicating his prize to her after he was temporarily banned from the UK in 2019.

It was night dreams are made of for pop sensation Mabel. The British beauty is the daughter of legendary singer Neneh Cherry. Mabel won her first-ever gong taking home the Best Female Solo Act award. As if it was written in the stars – it was 30 years ago to the day that Neneh Cherry won two Brit awards herself.

Stormzy gave a moving performance with a 200 strong choir. The rapper also won the Best Male award at the ceremony.

Massive congratulations to Dave who won Album of the year for Psychodrama. Dave even managed to cause a little controversy after sharing his honest opinions on a variety of political matters during his performance.
